On May 30, the 2024 Sustainable Development Forum for the Power Battery Industry and the Battery ID Joint Research Symposium were held in Changzhou. During the event, the China Battery ID Joint Research Initiative was officially launched. Battery Science & Technology was invited to become a signing partner of this initiative.
Other companies that signed the partnership agreement include China FAW, Geely Group, Great Wall Motor, CATL, FinDreams Battery, CALB, Sunwoda, GEM, Huayou Cobalt, and the China Automotive Technology and Research Center.
Currently, how to create a sustainable future for power batteries has become a focal point of international attention. Countries and regions, including China, the United States, Europe, and Japan, have successively introduced strategic plans for the sustainable development of the battery industry to provide guidance and assurance for national or regional industries. Against this backdrop, the China Automotive Battery Recycling Collaboration Alliance (CABRCA) convened the aforementioned forum with an aim to seize the opportunities presented by global changes in the power battery industry chain, strengthen the foundation of China’s power battery industry, and jointly explore new paths for sustainable development in the sector.
The “China Battery ID Joint Research Initiative”, announced at the conference, is seen as the “Chinese version of the battery passport”. Relying on the Working Group for “China Power Battery Sustainable Development Action Plan Joint Research”, the initiative will entail concerted efforts to discuss key indicator systems and sustainability assessments for the Chinese “Battery ID”, develop a “Battery ID” platform for China, enhance the digital management capabilities of China’s power battery industry chain, boost the competitiveness and influence of Chinese battery products, and establish a globally recognized “Battery ID” system. Ultimately, this initiative is poised to advance the green transformation and upgrading of the battery industry.
