Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the 2024 edition catalog of recommended energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies and equipment in the industrial and information fields and 2024 edition national industrial energy-saving and carbon-reduction technology application guide and cases. Among the listed technologies, the hydrogen fuel distributed power generation system by CEMT, a company invested in by Luen Mei Group, was included once again.

The Recommended Catalog is divided into three sections: industrial energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies, energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies in the information field, and high-efficiency energy-saving equipment. It comprises a total of 173 technologies and 173 pieces of equipment. In the industrial energy-saving and carbon-reduction technology section, there are two hydrogen-related items. In the section of energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies in the information field, there are 15 hydrogen production and utilization technologies.

The CEMT hydrogen fuel distributed power generation system, which made the list, utilizes proton exchange membrane fuel cells to generate electricity through the electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen from the air, effectively converting industrial by-product hydrogen into electricity. This offers energy-intensive enterprises a way to avoid peak electricity tariffs, use electricity without restrictions, and expand their capacity efficiently. The system can be used to create multiple innovative multi-energy complementary application scenarios, such as “wind and solar power + hydrogen storage + fuel cell power generation + combined heat (cooling) and power (CHP)”, and can be applied to a wide range of fields, including power storage, backup power, surplus electricity grid integration, and grid frequency regulation. Its high safety, reliability, and economical efficiency have garnered widespread market recognition, and in 2023, it passed scientific and technological achievements appraisal, earning recognition as first-of-its-kind equipment in Shandong and Zhejiang provinces.
